During her tenure at the café, Ms. Poupore simultaneously served as a consultant for GreenSpace Cafe in Ferndale, Michigan, from 2015 to 2020. Her consulting work extended her influence within the region’s culinary scene and reinforced her dedication to promoting healthful eating. Ms. Poupore was also the owner of The Clean Plate between 2013 and 2018, where she advanced her vision for accessible vegetarian cuisine. Under her direction, The Clean Plate became known for its commitment to quality ingredients.
Ms. Poupore’s earlier experience included serving as a general manager at Inn Season Cafe from 2006 to 2010. In this leadership role, she oversaw daily operations and cultivated a team-oriented atmosphere that prioritized customer satisfaction and dietary inclusivity. Ms. Poupore’s tenure at Inn Season Cafe began in 2000 as a general employee, during which she developed foundational skills in restaurant service and management. Additionally, from 2003 to 2006, Ms. Poupore contributed as a general employee at Detroit Waldorf School. This experience broadened her perspective on holistic education and community involvement.
Ms. Poupore graduated from the Waldorf Institute of Southeastern Michigan in 2004. The values instilled during her high school journey, particularly those emphasizing compassion, intention and self-belief, have been instrumental in shaping her professional ethos. Additionally, Ms. Poupore credits mentors during her Waldorf training and several culinary figures for guiding her development in hospitality and plant-based cuisine.
Beyond her work-related endeavors, Ms. Poupore is affiliated with the Plant-Based Nutrition Support Group, reflecting her ongoing commitment to public health education and advocacy. Earlier, she served as a culinary consultant for Food for Life by Physicians Committee in Gallup, New Mexico, from 2015 to 2020. Additionally, a significant highlight for Ms. Poupore was her volunteer work with the Navajo Nation on a project sponsored by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Initially approached by a physician client from metropolitan Detroit, she offered her services free of charge to support health initiatives within the Navajo community. Ms. Poupore’s impact was recognized when both the physician and a nurse later expressed gratitude for the positive changes resulting from her contributions.
Looking ahead, Ms. Poupore plans to establish Herban Grounds, a new venture specializing in natural vegetarian cuisine and specialty coffee drinks, further expanding her legacy of innovation within the culinary field. Her success thus far is rooted in persistence, compassion and a steadfast intention to serve others selflessly.
