Ms. Brown further broadened her entrepreneurial reach as the president of Grupo Brocal in Guatemala. Grupo Brocal manufactures sharp containers for hospitals in the United States and internationally, providing essential products for the safe disposal of needles. The company achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $20 million in revenue. It currently employs approximately 40 staff members across service and sales roles.

Notably, Grupo Brocal was the first company in its sector to collaborate with Korea, establishing a facility there in 2005 to convert food waste into animal feed pellets. Although this initiative faced challenges due to the low nutritional value of kimchi-based feed, it marked an important step in international cooperation and environmental management. Grupo Brocal continues to innovate by working on solutions for excess waste management.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Brown held key positions at Tiffany Industries from 1976 to 1983, where she contributed to sales operations involving grain silos and office furniture. Ms. Brown’s professional journey began at Wagner Electric Company as a bilingual secretary before advancing to sales coordinator.

Most notably, she has served as the president of Somerset Foundation LLC since 2001, an organization dedicated to supporting marginalized communities in Guatemala, Romania and Mexico. Her commitment to philanthropy is evident through the foundation’s efforts to provide educational opportunities and support for individuals facing adversity. Among her most notable achievements has been assisting members of the Romani population in Romania, some of whom have gone on to earn degrees in teaching, accounting and law. Ms. Brown regards her humanitarian work as her greatest accomplishment.

Ms. Brown became a published author in 2021 with the release of “Living to Love and Learn.” Dedicated to her parents, the 209-page book is available on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
