Jack Demarest, Construction and Installation Manager at Guldmann Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the Medical Equipment Manufacturing Industry.
Mr. Demarest has established a distinguished career in the patient handling and health care equipment industry, marked by progressive leadership roles and a commitment to operational excellence. Since 2023, he has served as a construction and installation manager for Guldmann Inc. in North America. In this capacity, Mr. Demarest manages full-time employees across three U.S. regions, as well as subcontractors throughout the United States, overseas territories and Central America.
Among other responsibilities, Dr. Demarest coordinates a diverse project portfolio that includes small-scale, single-day installations as well as complex, multiyear builds costing millions of dollars, such as hospital build-outs. He also supports both field supervisors and internal staff, ensuring the team is well-equipped to perform their jobs to the best of their abilities. Notably, Mr. Demarest has been recognized for implementing systems and processes that facilitate a coaching-based management approach, reflecting his dedication to employee development and organizational growth.
Before joining Guldmann Inc., Mr. Demarest was the vice president of operations at Inovi Healthcare LLC from 2020 to 2023. His tenure at this startup stands out as a defining period in his career. He demonstrated exceptional versatility by contributing across operations, accounting, accounts receivable and customer service functions. Mr. Demarest played a pivotal role in scaling the company from approximately $2 million in revenue and two full-time employees to around $10 million in just over four years. He attributes this achievement not only to his operational expertise but also to his ability to identify new opportunities daily, fostering sustained growth and shaping a long-term vision for the organization through deliberate incremental progress.
Earlier, Mr. Demarest worked for Tollos Inc. in Maryland. He began as a national service manager, a position he held from 2013 to 2019. Concurrently, he served as a senior project manager between 2017 and 2019, overseeing large-scale projects in the patient-handling sector.
Mr. Demarest began his professional journey in 2012 as a service technician with RecoverCare LLC, the nation’s leading distributor of wound care, bariatric, and safe patient handling equipment and solutions to health care facilities nationwide, where he gained hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance at major hospitals throughout the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., region. This foundational role introduced Mr. Demarest to hospital operations and patient-handling needs, setting the stage for his subsequent transition into leadership positions in the industry.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Demarest earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and exercise science in 2008. His academic training provided a strong foundation in human movement sciences and practical problem-solving skills.
Mr. Demarest’s entry into the profession was driven by a deliberate decision to pursue hands-on work rather than continue with advanced academic studies after graduating from college. Beginning as a midship driver in the durable medical equipment industry before specializing in bariatric equipment repair, he developed expertise that enabled him to transition into patient handling, where he has built an enduring career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Demarest has been an active member of the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals. His membership reflects his commitment to advancing best practices in patient safety and health care equipment management.
Mr. Demarest credits much of his success to formative experiences as a coach and teacher during his late teens and early 20s, coaching swimming and teaching snowboarding both during high school and while attending The Pennsylvania State University. These early roles shaped his leadership philosophy centered on support, mentorship and continuous improvement. Additionally, becoming a father profoundly influenced how Mr. Demarest interacts with colleagues and employees, instilling values that guide his professional conduct and management style.
Eager for future success in his field, Mr. Demarest intends to further develop and implement a coaching- and support-based leadership style at Guldmann North America by creating robust support networks for field supervisors and technicians who interact directly with customers. His overarching objective is to establish a management philosophy in which supervisors serve their employees as providers of support rather than as traditional command-and-control leaders.
