Leveraging many years of success and expertise in this area, Mr. Fillet’s professional journey has been marked by significant roles, such as chief financial officer at Valiant Vineyards Inc. from 2016 to 2017 and founder and chief executive officer at Mesa Tex-Mex Inc. between 2013 and 2016. Mr. Fillet also excelled as the president and director of Inner Harbor Financial from 2009 to 2013, following his role as the president of The Riderwood Group for five years, beginning in 2004.
Earlier, Mr. Fillet held leading positions with companies like Prudential Securities, Merrill Lynch and Auerbach Bath Robe Corporation, as well as Bear, Stearns & Company and First Boston Corporation. He began his tenure as a salesperson at Stone & Webster Securities Corporation in New York City in 1972 after working as a trainee at Dillon, Read & Company from 1971 to 1972.
In academia, Mr. Fillet taught as an assistant professor of the professional practice of finance at the business school at Rutgers University from 2017 to 2025. His academic contributions also included serving as a professor at Columbia University between 2014 and 2015 and at Fordham University from 2011 to 2014. Additionally, Mr. Fillet co-directed the Center for Entrepreneurship at Fordham University starting in 2012.
Mr. Fillet’s educational background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religion at Boston University in 1970 and a Master of Business Administration in finance from New York University (NYU) in 1978. He furthered his expertise with postgraduate coursework at the University of Michigan and at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Fillet holds certifications that have enhanced his professional capabilities. He completed the corporate leadership and executive coaching program at Babson College’s Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship and participated in the P3 Pedagogy Program through the Association of College and University Educators at Rutgers University.
Throughout his career, Mr. Fillet has been actively involved in various professional organizations, such as the Alumni Association of Boston University. He has also remained affiliated with the graduate school of business at NYU. Active in his community, Mr. Fillet has enjoyed volunteering with organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association and teaching within the Diocese of Bridgeport. Most honorably, Mr. Fillet served his country and is recognized as a veteran of the U.S. Army.
