Jitendra Swarup, M.D., Owner of Albermarle Eye Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in optometry.
With 25 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Swarup has excelled as the owner of the Albemarle Eye Center, PLLC since 1995 and Precision Eye Care since 2011. In addition to those appointments, he also serves as the medical director for Albemarle Clinical Trials LLC. A graduate of Howard University, Dr. Swarup earned a Bachelor of Science in 1987 and graduated from the College of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine in 1991. Furthermore, Dr. Swarup became certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Early in his career, he contributed as a resident and the chief resident in ophthalmology at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit in 1995. He commenced his profession as an intern at the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore.
Outside of his primary responsibilities, Dr. Swarup flourished as a public speaker at various medical conferences. A respected voice in the field, he is the co-author of “Cardiovascular Surgery in Blacks,” which was published in 1990. In an effort to remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Swarup maintains a professional relationship with the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the India Heritage Foundation, the Hampton Road Hindu Temple and the Suman Swarup Foundation.
For his many achievements in the field, Dr. Swarup was honored with Second Placement at the 1990 editions of the Howard University Medical Student Research Competition and the Ophthalmology Resident’s Day Symposium at Howard University Hospital. Likewise, Dr. Swarup was selected for Third Placement at the American Medical Association’s Eastern Student Research Forum. Looking toward the future, Dr. Swarup hopes to continue garnering valuable experience through the AECPEC while providing patients with the best quality care possible and fostering the medical talents of his son, whom he hopes will one day take over the practice.
