Before his current position, Mr. Metzler was a violin restorer with Hans Weisshaar Inc. from 1976 to 1979. From 1974 to 1975, he was an instrument restorer with GEWA in Mittenwald, Germany. In 1969, he garnered experience as an instrument technician with Scherl & Roth.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Metzler attended the University of Iowa, where he majored in violin performance and completed coursework in music. In 1976, he earned a journeyman’s degree in violin making from the Bavarian State Trade School for Violin Making. For his professional excellence, Mr. Metzler was recognized with an award from the Violin Society of America in 1978.
To keep abreast of his career, Mr. Metzler was a member of the board of governors for the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers for 10 years. He is also a member of the Violin Society of America and the International Association of Violin and Bow Makers. Mr. Metzler attributes his success to his integrity, transparency and commitment to high standards. In the coming years, he plans to grow his business into an international organization. He enjoys beekeeping in his spare time.
