Marty Herman, Owner and Manager of Exposures International – Gallery of Fine Art, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fine art sales and exhibition.
Since 1996, Mr. Herman has been the owner and manager of Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art. Voted the Best Gallery in Sedona, Best Gallery in Arizona, and one of the Top 25 Galleries in the United States, Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art represents more than 100 local and regional painters, sculptors, metalsmiths and multimedia artists. Exposures International Gallery was established as a “labor of love” based on respect for the arts, “total honesty and integrity,” and a desire to work in partnership with the gallery staff and creators represented. Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Herman studied photography at San Francisco State University before being drafted into the photo intelligence branch of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
After completing his military service, Mr. Herman spent several years as a motion picture camera operator before finding his passion in the world of marketing. He began as a marketing manager for Pacific Stereo in 1971, becoming executive vice president and general manager of University Stereo from 1975 until 1980, building the company’s sales to more than $40 million. During the late 1970s, Mr. Herman launched JAM Advertising Ink, a Los Angeles-focused advertising and marketing agency with a global list of clients including Coca-Cola and Ritz Camera. After serving as the head swim coach for the 1981-1982 Special Olympics, Mr. Herman briefly returned to advertising as the vice president of marketing for Inference Corp., stepping down in 1984 to pursue early retirement. Having made a million dollars by age 35, Mr. Herman and his wife, Diane, spent the next six years traveling the world on their yacht.
Upon returning to the United States, Mr. Herman relocated to Sedona, Arizona, after being told by the Environmental Protection Agency that the area had among the cleanest air in the country. In 1996, the Hermans opened Exposures International Gallery in a space purchased from a defunct local gallery. By 1999, they had outgrown their original space, and relocated to their current building, serving more than 40,000 visitors annually. Mr. Herman credits his success to his commitment to his values and his dedication to living with integrity and plans to continue operating Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art for as long as he is able.
