Kimberly Scott-Dorsey, Business Developer at KSD Consulting Firm, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business consulting.
Ms. Scott-Dorsey was inspired by her late grandfather, Percy Dorsey Sr., to become an entrepreneur. He was a military veteran who ran a successful grocery store when she was a young girl and she learned the basics and fundamentals of business from him. As a successful entrepreneur, she has experience handling multiple businesses in various fields, such as construction, real estate, retail and consulting.
Ms. Scott-Dorsey initially gained valuable professional expertise as an early education provider for Starlight Enterprises Academies Inc. and the Starlight School of Humanity/Holistic Behavior Health from 1986 through 2010, during which time she established herself as an entrepreneur. Since 2006, she has prospered as owner of the KSD Consulting Firm, where her specialties include establishing businesses and helping them gather information and knowledge to prepare them for funding, working with legislation and leadership to help fellow entrepreneurs gain funding and looking after their mental health.
After initially obtaining an Associate of Science in psychology from the University of Phoenix-Milwaukee Campus in 2013, Ms. Scott-Dorsey followed with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and communications, with honors, from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee in 2017. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in industrial and organizational psychology. She has contributed as an elected member of the leadership council with the Democratic National Convention Committee and currently serves on the Mental Health Task Force Steering Committee for Milwaukee.
As her career highlight, Ms. Scott-Dorsey cites “understanding how to take funding and grow it,” which she started learning when she was five years old. She maintains that her best achievement in life was becoming a mother. In the coming years, Ms. Scott-Dorsey sees herself completing her doctorate as well as reopening her preschool to bring more employment opportunities for others.
