Mr. Thomas initially served his country in the United States Navy for over two decades. After obtaining a Master of Business Administration in 2001 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, he has provided superior service since 2006 as a partner in a construction company. Beginning in 2016, Mr. Thomas has prospered as co-owner of The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery LLC at the historic Hampton Armory in Hampton, Virginia.
The Vanguard has attracted a following as a premier destination and entertainment venue featuring Caiseal Beer and Spirits, brewed and distilled on site, as well as live music from local and national musicians and a full restaurant featuring a seasonal menu which pairs all items with select craft cocktails and craft brews. In 2021, The Vanguard, Virginia’s first brewpub and distillery located in the same building, captured the Best Bourbon in Virginia award.
Mr. Thomas attributes his success to hard work, drive, and determination. After building distilleries for years with his construction company, he then decided to create his own distillery, though he still accepts orders to build them for other customers. His goal in the coming years is to continue to grow the distillery business and still work on creating distilleries for his clients.
