Mr. Hilkhuijsen is a registered architect in Colorado and the District of Columbia and a licensed residential home builder in South Carolina.

He became involved in his profession because he took inspiration from having lived in different countries throughout his life because of his father’s work. His father was in the helicopter business, which strengthened his desire to either become an architect or an airline pilot, and he ended up choosing architecture.

As career highlights, Mr. Hilkuisjen mentions helping design the largest Starbucks in all of South Carolina and a  beautiful office complex located in Nexton. Additionally, he enjoyed designing a custom home at the Kiawah Island, and he is proud of his current involvement with a 11,000-square-foot renovation in Fort Worth, Texas. In the coming years, Mr. Hilkhuijsen would like to be able to build his company, Architecture +, LLC, up to the point where it can have a younger generation take over the firm.
