Christopher Whitehurst, Founder at CW Dressings LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in food production and entrepreneurship.

Mr. Whitehurst served his country with the United States Army for two decades from 2001 to 2021, attaining the rank of master sergeant while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his service, he excelled at numerous leadership positions throughout his career that included senior culinary management noncommissioned officer, enlisted aide, dining facility manager, senior drill sergeant, and first sergeant. While in the Army, he was inspired to work in culinary management by his father, who had also excelled in food service while he served in the U.S. Marines.

While still serving as a drill sergeant in 2000, Mr. Whitehurst developed a salad dressing consisting of balsamic vinaigrette sweetened with deglet noor date syrup. While seeking to eat healthier, he enjoyed salads but noticed that many commercial dressings available in stores and supermarkets contained added sugar. Fellow soldiers were impressed by Mr. Whitehurst’s creation and suggested he form an LLC and market his dressing commercially, thereby founding CW Dressings. He balanced his duties at Fort Bragg while producing his dressings on weekends. After his retirement from the Army, he became a full-time entrepreneur and distributes the product to 20 retail locations in Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina, and the dressing can also be ordered online. Mr. Whitehurst is planning to develop a date hot sauce and a barbecue sauce in the near future.

A native of North Carolina, Mr. Whitehurst earned an associate degree at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas, and subsequently received certification as a food service specialist. He is presently working toward a bachelor’s degree in business management at American Military University. While with the Army, he was decorated with numerous medals and ribbons, including an Iraq Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. In addition, Mr. Whitehurst was also honored to receive a Distinguished Order of Saint Martin, which is presented to senior grade officers and civilians for their contributions to the Quartermaster Corps.

A professional member of the National Veteran Business Development Council, Mr. Whitehurst has been featured in several local newspapers, including The Fayetteville Observer and The Daily News for his success as an entrepreneur. His career highlight has been his service in the military, retiring from the military, and starting his own business. The recipes are his very own, of which he is very proud.
