Edwina Clark, Adjunct College Professor at Houston Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in educational innovation.
Following obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English and business education in 1971, Ms. Clark subsequently earned a Master of Education from Texas Southern University in Houston in 1974. She then excelled for five years as a school coordinator with a juvenile detention facility with the Houston Independent School District and 30 years as interim assistant principal and instructional campus-based specialist with the Houston public schools. Soon after, Ms. Clark provided superior service as a field supervisor with LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas for six years. Since 2014, she has flourished as an adjunct college professor with Houston Community College.
Ms. Clark attributes her success to her strong faith and the foundation that she received from her parents, as it helped her focus on what she wanted to do in life as well as be consistent in helping others to make society better. As a career highlight, she cites her involvement with an alternative educational program at one of the school districts in the Houston area, Quest Academy, to work with students aged 16 and older who had not been successful in a traditional high school classroom and who were potential dropouts. They were able to work in a computerized program with a similar curriculum that would have been taught in a regular classroom and it helped prevent a lot of young people from leaving high school. Furthermore, she also helped young mothers develop self-esteem. In the coming years, Ms. Clark plans to complete her doctorate degree and would also like to publish a book.
