With more than 25 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Olsen has excelled as the owner of Weird Brothers Coffee, a small family-owned coffee roasting business operating out of Herndon, Virginia, since 2015. Founding the aforementioned business alongside hs brother, the pair initially began the business in a coffee truck before establishing their first retail coffee bar location in 2017. In the years since, Mr. Olsen and his brother have opened two additional brick-and-mortar locations and have also recruited his eldest daughter to work for the Weird Brothers Coffee as she pursues higher education.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Olsen served in the U.S. Army between 1996 to 2009, during which time he was on active duty for the final five years. To support his professional endeavors, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College in 2009. Mr. Olsen is presently completing his master’s degree, having initially pursued continued education around 2015.
As a testament to his stellar professional endeavors, Mr. Olsen has accrued a number of accolades over the years. In 2021, he was notably recognized with the Fairfax Leadership Award. Furthermore, Mr. Olsen has been honored with multiple military awards as a result of his extensive exemplary service to his country.
Mr. Olsen attributes his success to his parents, as he considers his father to have been an integral mentor, as well as the valuable lessons instilled within him during his time in the U.S. Army. Having long harbored an interest for entrepreneurship, he has been incredibly proud to have developed the Work Awareness Training Program with the special education department of their local high school, which enables neurodiverse students to develop their teamwork skills, confidence and workplace responsibility as interns. Looking toward the future, Mr. Olsen hopes to open new locations for Weird Brothers Coffee while continuing to adapt and build the brand, expanding their online presence and developing new types of products.
