With decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Klitsner has excelled as the founder of KID Group LLC since 1990. During this time, he had additionally found success as the founder and chief executive officer for QiGO Inc. from 2006 to 2010. Notably, he has been distinguished in his field as the creator of such toys and games as “Bop It!,” “Perplexus,” “Simon Air,” “Hyper Dash,” “The Sand Digger” and “Pop It! Pro.” A former freelancer for Memorex, Discovery Toys and numerous corporate identity companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has also contributed to product designs for Apple, Fisher Price, Mattel and Hasbro. Beyond his primary responsibilities, Mr. Klitsner has been active as the co-founder of bopitforgood.com, a teacher at the San Francisco Academy of Arts and the California College of the Arts, a supporter of the San Francisco LightHouse for the Blind, a keynote speaker for KublaCon San Francisco, an architectural illustrator and an artist for various journals.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Klitsner pursued an education at the ArtCenter College of Design, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in industrial design in 1982. As a testament to his exceptional efforts, he has been featured in Buzzfeed, The Guardian, and The Wall Street Journal, and has been recruited as a guest speaker on dozens of podcasts. Likewise, Mr. Klitsner’s toys have been recognized as the Toy of the Year on four occasions, and Bop It! was celebrated with the Duracell No. 1 Toy Award and the Parents Choice Award.
Having fostered a lifelong interest in building things, Mr. Klitsner attributes his success to his desire to create new memories for others, as he firmly believes that memories are the most valuable things people have. Among the many highlights of his career, he is incredibly proud to have seen Bop It! impact pop culture, with the music from Bop It! appearing in more than 50 songs. He is also grateful that Bop It! has helped the blind connect with those who can see. Looking toward the future, Mr. Klitsner aims to continue traveling, document his travels with illustrations for his travel journals, create more memories alongside his family and create more games that he hopes will become classics as well.
