Ryan B. Abbott, Co-Owner and Chef of Whistling Pig Barbecue, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership as a restaurateur.
Mr. Abbott currently excels as the co-owner and chef of Whistling Pig Barbecue, a slow-smoked barbecue cuisine catering company. Through his business, he offers a variety of meats, including pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken, smoked sausage, and smoked turkey, as well as homemade sides and ribs. Prior to his current endeavor, Mr. Abbott was an event coordinator with Sowell Farms and a cook at Planet Nine Ball in Tampa, Florida. He garnered additional experience as the director of a military police department. Mr. Abbott served in the U.S. Army’s Military Police Corps for eight years.
In recognition of his professional achievements, Mr. Abbott was named runner-up in VIP Magazine in 2023 as a previous two-time winner of the honor. In 2022, he earned a commendation as Federal Supervisor of the Quarter, and in both 2019 and 2020, he was named the Number Two Federal Supervisor of the Quarter. In 2015, Mr. Abbott earned acclaim as the Federal Civilian Employee of the Year. At Whistling Pig Barbecue, two of his barbecue sauces finished in the Top 25 in the Ribs World Championship.
Mr. Abbott prepared for his career at Pensacola State College, earning a bachelor’s degree with a major in history. At the same institution, he graduated with an additional bachelor’s degree in organizational management with a major in public safety. Alongside his formal degrees, he holds an Advanced Technical Certificate in Law Enforcement Administration. Mr. Abbott maintains affiliation with Sigma Beta Delta, and in the future, he plans to see his children graduate from college. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing sports with his children.
