Thomas B. Kane, forester at Forest Integrity Timber Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in forest operations.
With 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Kane has excelled as a forester at Forest Integrity Timber Services. In his role, he helps landowners maintain healthy and productive woods on their properties. To do so, he first assesses how the landowners use their woods and what they are looking to have done, and then measures the diameter and height of the trees to be cut down. Using a computer program, he calculates the timber’s value and either buys it directly or helps the landowner sell it to various sawmills. He also writes forest management plans on a regular basis and helps fulfill any activities within the plans, including cutting and cleanup.
Mr. Kane began his career as a procurement forester at Wagner Millwork, Inc., and later served as head of procurement at Johnson Brothers Lumber Company. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at St. Lawrence University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1999. He continued his academic efforts at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, graduating with a master’s degree in forestry and natural resource management. He holds a certification as a New York City watershed-qualified forester.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Kane remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters, the Association of Consulting Foresters, the Freemasons, Royal Arch Masonry, the Knights Templar, and was president of City Rugby Team.
