Soon thereafter, she was active as a physician and owner of Premier OBGYN LLC from 2013 to 2014 and South Huntsville OBGYN from 2014 to 2018. Driven by her desire to help underserved populations, Dr. West was affiliated with the National Service Corps following the completion of her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in 2001. Outside of her work as a business owner, she practiced medicine as a consultant physician with Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University from 2004 to 2012, a physician at Huntsville Hospital from 2018 to 2022, and a physician with Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama since 2023. Throughout her career, Dr. West has been credited with creating the first and only OBGYN practice in Crestwood as well as the outpatient clinic at Huntsville Hospital.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. West pursued an education at Howard University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science. She concluded her studies at Meharry Medical College in 1997, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. A member of the National Medical Association and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, she has been proudly designated as a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Academy of Integrative Health in Medicine. Notably, Dr. West has attributed her success to her unwavering focus on providing excellent patient care, which was derived from her genuine desire to help others as a physician.
