Dr. Mikala D. Reznik, PT, DPT, ICP, CKTP, owner of Reznik Focus Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care education.
With over two decades of experience in health care education, Dr. Reznik has built a successful career specializing in physical therapy. She currently excels as the owner of the Reznik Focus Center, a position she has held since 2022. Previously, she served as the director and chair of the physical therapist assistant program from 2019 to 2022 and as an assistant professor and assistant director of clinical education for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center from 2017 to 2019. She was also an adjunct faculty for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the same institution from 2011 to 2019. She also held positions as a professor and director of the physical therapist assistant program at Odessa College from 2012 to 2017. Her clinical experience includes roles at Encompass Home Health from 2011 to 2013, Permian Basin Rehab Center from 2010 to 2011, Advanced Home Health Services from 2007 to 2010, Warm Springs in 2007, and Midland Memorial Hospital in 2005.
Additionally, Dr. Reznik has held memberships with Toastmasters International, Kinesio Taping International, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Texas Physical Therapy Association. She also served on the supervisory board of Complex Community Federal Credit Union and was vice president of The Well. In light of her impressive undertakings, she received an Integrity Award from Advanced Home Health. She laid a solid educational foundation with a Bachelor of Science in movement science from Texas Christian University in 1998, a Master of Science in physical therapy from Texas State University in 2002, and a PhD in physical therapy from Hardin-Simmons University in 2008. She also earned certifications as an IASIS Certified Practitioner from IASIS Technologies Corporation in 2022, as a Mental Health First Aid Certified professional from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in 2021, and as a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner from Kinesio Tape International in 2003.
Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Reznik faced profound personal challenges when she lost her husband to COVID-19. His time in the ICU was marked by her severe depression, grief, anxiety, and PTSD, intensified by their separation during his hospitalization. To address her mental health struggles, she turned to neurofeedback, which was crucial in alleviating her symptoms and allowed her to stop using prescription medications. She eventually stabilized and realized the need for neurofeedback in her community. She now proudly leads the Reznik Focus Center, the largest neurofeedback center along Interstate 35, staffed by eight nationally certified neurofeedback providers. In the coming years, her ultimate professional goal is to establish a multicenter practice with multiple locations, including concierge services that bring health care directly into patients’ homes. In the short term, she aims to become a featured speaker at conferences and author a book to share her insights and expertise in health care innovation and patient-centered practices.
