Shelly Nichole Urkoski, PTA, ATC, owner of Resilient Rehab, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health and wellness.
With nearly two and a half decades of experience, Ms. Urkoski has established a successful career in health and wellness. She currently serves as the owner of Resilient Rehab LLC, a role she has held since 2024. Resilient Rehab specializes in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, with additional services in orthopedics and athletic training outreach. In this capacity, she leads a team of 12 professionals across various disciplines, focusing on patient-centered care. Her expertise lies in orthopedics, particularly in recovery for individuals with total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as athletes managing orthopedic diagnoses. Her experience includes serving as director of rehab, physical therapist assistant, and certified athletic trainer with Powerback from 2012 to 2024 and with Genesis Rehab Services, now Powerback, from 2012 to 2023. She also served as an athletic trainer in 2001 and a physical therapist assistant in 2007.
Ms. Urkoski dedicates her time as a board member for the Nebraska Therapeutic Riding Academy, a nonprofit organization using horseback riding to help individuals with incontinence and neurodevelopmental deficits. She is also president of the Tri-Community Foundation, raising funds and administering grants for local initiatives in three communities where she provides athletic training services. Additionally, she contributes as an assistant basketball coach at her local high school, serves on the town library board, and donates to schools and city organizations in her area.
Reflecting on her path, she was inspired to start her own business after years in corporate rehabilitation settings, where she felt the focus on patient care was diminishing. In 2023, with the support of her husband and team, she began laying the groundwork for Resilient Rehab. She takes great pride in building a patient-centered business, a rarity in the field of physical therapy assistance. She attributes her success to her dedicated team and her strong work ethic and perseverance to the values instilled by her parents. Looking to the future, she is committed to growing her company, expanding the range of services offered, and increasing accessibility to ensure more individuals can benefit from the care they provide.
