His leadership on this global undertaking demonstrated his technical acumen and project management skills.

Before joining Sprint, Mr. Hartzell contributed his expertise to Entech Sales & Service LLC. He also worked with TDIndustries. These experiences allowed him to absorb industry best practices that would later inform his approach at Hartzell’s Heat & Air.

Mr. Hartzell’s career began at an early age under the guidance of his father, an electrician. By age 10, he was already involved in electrical work and by 16 was managing crews while balancing school responsibilities during his junior and senior years. Mr. Hartzell’s early exposure to the electrical field laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors.

Mr. Hartzell’s educational background includes an Associate of Science in thermodynamics from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, earned in 1989. He previously completed coursework at O.T. Autry Vocational and Technical School (now Autry Technology Center) in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1986. Mr. Hartzell is also an alumnus of Woodward High School, graduating in 1981. His academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping his technical expertise and business acumen.

Active in his professional community, Mr. Hartzell is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America and the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. Civically, he is affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He also generously donates to various schools.

Throughout his distinguished career spanning 45 years, Mr. Hartzell has achieved expert status in residential systems and remains fully informed on advancements in artificial intelligence and technology trends. He holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and has received recognition from Google based on customer reviews, a testament to Mr. Hartzell’s and his team’s hard work and diligence in customer service satisfaction.

Mr. Hartzell attributes much of his success to the influence of his father, who instilled a strong work ethic rooted in diligence and attention to detail. These values have guided him throughout his career. His grandfather also played a formative role by emphasizing the importance of mathematics as a gateway to opportunity. Additionally, encouragement from an engineer at General Electric reinforced Mr. Hartzell’s early start in engineering.

Dedicated to educating others about air conditioning systems, Mr. Hartzell aims to ensure that knowledge is widely shared within the community. While he has received buyout offers from major companies for Hartzell’s Heat & Air, his objective is not acquisition but rather continuity. Mr. Hartzell has established an exit plan that will transition ownership to employees when he steps down, transforming the business into an employee-owned enterprise with his daughter designated as its successor.
