Despite the well-known challenges faced by new construction businesses, particularly in small towns where many struggle financially during their formative years, he successfully built Glacier Bear Construction LLC into a self-sustaining enterprise. Mr. Scharen’s ability to overcome these hurdles stands as his most significant professional achievement.
Glacier Bear Construction LLC offers a wide range of services to its clients, including residential and commercial work in areas such as window and door installation, siding and trim work, fences, decks, and remodeling work for kitchens and bathrooms. The company also offers home maintenance services, seasonal services like snow removal and gutter cleaning and repair, as well as emergency services for plumbing and roofing issues, sump pump replacements and installation, and pipe thawing.
Since 2024, Mr. Scharen has also served as the lead mechanic for the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation in Juneau. In this capacity, he contributes his technical skills to the broader community while maintaining his leadership role at Glacier Bear Construction LLC.
Before these roles, Mr. Scharen worked as a self-employed finish carpenter. His mastery in this specialized field has since become widely recognized and reflects years of hands-on experience and dedication to the craft.
