Lee Shepard, President at Lion Pools Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Pool Construction and Maintenance Industry.

Mr. Shepard is lauded for his extensive career in entrepreneurship, dating back to 1991 with the establishment of Lions Pools Inc. in Clovis, California. Taking ownership from his father, he transformed the business from a service and repair company to a comprehensive pool construction and remodeling business. Under Mr. Shepard’s leadership, the company flourished during the early 2000s economic boom. Despite economic challenges that saw a decline in pool construction from 75 in 2008 to just over 10 in 2009, Mr. Shepard adeptly adjusted business strategies to maintain operations.

Recognized Central Valley’s premier custom pool builder, Lions Pools Inc. specializes in designing custom pools that meet the needs and desires of every homeowner’s lifestyle and aesthetic. Striving to ensure every backyard is transformed into a custom personal oasis, Mr. Shepard and his team focus on blending both functionality and beauty. In addition to designing and installing new pools, Lions Pools Inc. offers additional services, ranging from renovations, repairs and resurfacing to lighting, tiling, weekly maintenance and more.

A notable highlight of Mr. Shepard’s career was his involvement in renovating Frank Lloyd Wright’s The Fawcett House in Los Banos, California. This project included constructing an 80-foot fountain with a tower that shot water up to 24 feet high. Mr. Shepard’s expertise was further recognized when he contributed to a new home for Arthur Dyson, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. Some of Mr. Shepard’s other notable accomplishments in his portfolio of work have included significant renovation projects for the Clovis Unified School District and a youth camp in Coarsegold, California.

Before joining the family business, Mr. Shepard’s career began with roles at Hayes Pumps for five years and Valley Pump Group for nearly another five years. During this decade-long tenure, he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience in the industry.

Mr. Shepard embarked on his professional journey with a solid foundation in hydraulics and pool design. His academic pursuits included coursework at Fresno City College in Fresno, California, equipping him with the technical knowledge that would later underpin his success in the pool construction sector.

Mr. Shepard’s commitment to excellence is further reflected in his membership as a lifetime honorary member of the Independent Pool & Spa Service Association and his former role as the vice president of its local chapter. His dedication to community service is evident through his support of organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Drive.

Throughout his career, Mr. Shepard has been honored with several accolades, including Pool of the Year early in his career for a project in Fresno, California. He was also recognized with the Pool Builder of the Year Award from 2022 to 2023. In addition to these prestigious honors, Mr. Shepard has received numerous expressions of gratitude from clients.

As he contemplates retirement, Mr. Shepard remains focused on ensuring Lion Pools continues to thrive by emphasizing quality work and maintaining strong client relationships through referrals rather than aggressive marketing strategies. His legacy is one of innovation, community involvement and unwavering dedication to providing exceptional service in the pool construction industry.
