William Wallace Wilson II, President at Wilson Risk Partners, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Commercial Insurance.

Mr. Wilson’s distinguished career in the broader business sector spans more than five decades and is marked by a series of progressive leadership roles and entrepreneurial successes. Since 2023, he has served as the president of Wilson Risk Partners, Inc., a firm he founded with a vision for growth and transparency in the commercial insurance industry.

Under Mr. Wilson’s stewardship, the agency began as a revenue agency with $950,000 and subsequently affiliated with Heffernan Insurance Brokers in Walnut Creek, California. This strategic partnership enabled him to secure funding while maintaining a minority ownership stake, a decision made to ensure financial stability and minimize personal debt obligations. Through targeted acquisitions of three agencies within a 50-mile radius and leveraging his extensive industry network, Mr. Wilson has overseen the agency’s expansion to more than $4 million in revenue and an increase in staff from seven to nearly 20 employees. He regards this growth and the ability to provide opportunities for others as among his most rewarding professional achievements.

Before establishing his firm, Mr. Wilson was the vice president at Ryan Insurance from 2019 to 2023. During this period, he relocated from Kansas City, Missouri, to Pittsburg, Kansas, in 2016 to assume leadership of the agency previously owned by his father-in-law. Between 1999 and 2018, Mr. Wilson held the position of vice president of property casualty underwriting at Med James, Inc., a wholesaler based in Overland Park, Kansas. Over nearly two decades with the company, he developed expertise in excess and surplus lines as well as dedicated group program development for specialized industries, such as rodeo, carnival operations, water parks and durable medical equipment.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Wilson excelled as the vice president at Davidson and Associates from 1996 to 1999. His professional journey began much earlier at his father’s agency in Joplin, Missouri, in 1970. After more than 15 years, Mr. Wilson moved to Kansas City in 1986, where he spent the next two-plus decades specializing in excess and surplus lines, further honing his expertise in commercial insurance.

Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence. His expertise spans managing large commercial accounts, serving major manufacturing and industrial clients, handling relationships with key company accounts, supporting small business accounts and participating in personal lines insurance services. Mr. Wilson has also maintained client relationships across diverse account types.

A graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, Mr. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government in 1970. The analytical skills and broad perspective gained through his academic pursuits have supported his ability to navigate complex business environments and develop innovative solutions throughout his career.

Mr. Wilson is an active member of several industry organizations, including the Kansas Governor’s Board of Workers Compensation and NCCI, and the Kansas Insurance and Financial Services Education Foundation. These affiliations have allowed him to remain at the forefront of industry developments while contributing to the advancement of insurance education and policy within Kansas. Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Wilson has demonstrated civic engagement through service as a donor to local organizations and charities. He is also involved with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

Mr. Wilson attributes his enduring success to a deep commitment to others as well as unwavering integrity and honesty, values that have guided every decision he has made professionally and personally. He believes that if something cannot be done correctly, it should not be done at all. This principle has shaped both his leadership style and reputation within the field.

Looking ahead, Mr. Wilson envisions stepping back from daily operations while remaining available for consultation when needed so that he may enjoy retirement after a long and impactful career. His legacy is defined by professional achievement rooted in expertise within commercial insurance as well as steadfast dedication to ethical conduct, teamwork, community involvement and family values, a testament to what can be accomplished through lifelong commitment to excellence.
