Under his leadership, the agency has become the largest Medicare agency in California and ranks among the top agencies nationally for Applied General Agency. Achieving platinum eagle level, the highest status in Northern California for Applied General Agency, stands as Mr. Wolin’s most notable professional milestone.
Before launching Cal Sierra Insurance Agency, Mr. Wolin began working as an insurance agent with Life Markets in Clovis, California, an independent brokerage that represents over 20 companies across life, health, Medicare and college planning markets. Mr. Wolin provides expert guidance and support to clients navigating complex insurance options.
Mr. Wolin’s journey in the insurance field began with Bankers Life in 2008. During this period, he developed foundational skills that would later serve him well as he transitioned into new roles. He also spent time with Applied General Agency in 2011. This partnership marked a turning point in Mr. Wolin’s career as he was recognized for his expertise and invited to elevate his role within the organization. The experience enabled him to master agency operations and compliance management while supporting other agents’ growth.
Before pivoting into the insurance sector, Mr. Wolin served as an account manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises in Fresno from 1994 to 2005. Starting as a merchandiser responsible for stocking shelves and building displays, he advanced into sales management, handling orders and communicating with store managers and owners across diverse retail environments. Additionally, Mr. Wolin dedicated nearly three decades to hospitality bartending at Pardini’s, a renowned catering establishment in Northern California, from 1993 to 2022. This long-standing role contributed significantly to his understanding of customer service and team dynamics.
Education has played a pivotal role in Mr. Wolin’s achievements. He earned an Associate of Arts in biochemical engineering from Diablo Valley College in Concord, California, in 1989. A commitment to continuous learning has defined Mr. Wolin’s approach to professional development. He regularly attends external conferences and participates in annual retraining and recertification processes that require significant time investment each year.
Mr. Wolin’s engagement with peers through industry associations has fostered an environment of shared knowledge and collaboration, experiences that have broadened his perspective on emerging trends and best practices within the field. Throughout his career, he has maintained active involvement in several organizations, such as the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (formerly National Association of Health Underwriters), and serves as the Northern California Medicare chair for the California Agents and Health Insurance Professionals organization. Beyond professional pursuits, Mr. Wolin is committed to civic engagement. Most notably, he has served as a volunteer for his local county food bank. His contributions reflect a broader commitment to community well-being that extends beyond business interests.
Mr. Wolin’s drive to enter the insurance profession stemmed from a long-standing aspiration to own a business where he could coach others and foster their professional growth. His reputation as an unofficial authority on Medicare was built through years of dedication, earning respect among peers who recognized both his knowledge base and willingness to share insights with others.
