As a senior estimator and chief executive officer of Yares Renovation Services for the past decade, he has excelled as the lead estimator for large-loss and complex fire rebuilds and has handled numerous claims where clients hit policy limits or are underinsured. Mr. Yares works directly with insurance companies to resolve complicated claims, conducts site visits and inspections, writes estimates and comparables for insurance companies, performs estimating and sales tasks within the business, trains project managers and estimators, and, among other tasks, oversees team members managing standard repair projects.
Known for effectively handling complicated claims that go abandoned by other companies, Mr. Yares and his team often receive referrals from renowned adjusters who trust his company to resolve issues that others could not. This reputation is further supported by his commitment to compassion. Mr. Yares often reminds his team that their projects affect the many families who may have lost their homes or cherished belongings.
Beginning his journey in the field after leaving college and initially working in hospitality, Mr. Yares sought greater stability. He entered construction in 2005 as a roofer at Sykes Building and Remodeling. He then worked as a finisher at Scotts Custom Concrete between 2007 and 2008 before founding Yares Contracting with his father in 2008. Over several years as the owner and carpenter at Yares Contracting through 2012, Mr. Yares developed foundational skills that would later support his success in insurance restoration. From 2012 to 2015, he served as a project manager for an insurance restoration and remodeling company, gaining experience with claim repair processes and client relations, before launching Yares Renovation Services.
In 2015, Mr. Yares co-founded what would become Yares Renovation Services with his father. Unfortunately, the early years were marked by challenges. After briefly pausing operations during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when his father retired, he restarted the business independently. Mr. Yares implemented new safety policies and began hiring and training team members to take over responsibilities previously managed by his father.
Education played an important role in shaping Mr. Yares’ path. While he did not pursue higher education beyond high school, he credits self-education through reading books and listening to audiobooks as crucial to his development as a business leader. Additionally, he received certification from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, which has contributed to his proficiency in claim repair work. Beyond technical expertise, Mr. Yares is deeply involved in industry organizations, such as the Main Street Board and the White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of work, Mr. Yares is active in civic life through volunteering at local races, such as marathons and five-kilometer events. Together with his wife, who manages PLNT BSD, a plant-based restaurant, they help operate a free local run club where they cover costs themselves to foster community wellness.
Throughout his career progression, Mr. Yares has demonstrated unwavering consistency and resilience. He attributes much of his success to a strong work ethic established early in life and reinforced through years of overcoming difficult customers, failed projects and long nights spent balancing family obligations with professional commitments. The support of mentors, as well as Mr. Yares’s father, also provided guidance during periods of burnout and uncertainty.
Mr. Yares’ approach centers on helping clients recover from traumatic events, such as house fires or significant property losses. He finds fulfillment in guiding clients through intricate insurance processes while ensuring their homes are rebuilt correctly and on time. For Mr. Yares, success means having the resources to care for loved ones, especially his wife and their daughter, and being able to support both clients in need and employees who rely on the business for their livelihoods.
Under Mr. Yares’s leadership, Yares Renovation Services has received recognition from the county for standing out in its field, a testament to his hard work and perseverance. Looking ahead, he aims for continued success that includes sustainable growth rather than expansion at all costs. He also plans to hire caring individuals who share his values so that more families can be served efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality control.
