Tamica Clement Moore (Baylor), MS, CTRS, owner of Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care and education.

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Tamica sought a strong academic foundation to begin building a distinguished career in health care and higher education. In 1998, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in therapeutic recreation and leisure service from Southern University and A&M College. Subsequently, Tamica earned a Master of Science in therapeutic recreation and leisure service from the same institution in 1999. She has since completed certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a Certified Inclusivity Assessor.

Tamica’s professional life began in Louisiana, where she worked as a recreation therapist with a variety of patient populations, including geriatric psych patients. She collaborated with physical rehabilitation specialists to develop a new recreation therapy program specialized for older populations.

Returning to California in 2002, Tamica was hired as the assisted living director promoted shortly as the assistant executive director at Aegis Assisted Living, where she oversaw memory care and assisted living programs and facilitated training for staff members. While there, she advanced through the company and became a mentor and trainer within Northern California, ensuring that new directors were prepared to handle the challenges of the job.

Tamica stepped back into the world of higher education, this time as a teacher, in 2014, becoming an adjunct professor for the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration at California State University, Sacramento. She gained experience as a teacher facilitating the assessment and documentation course for recreation therapy students and supervising students completing recreation therapy internships. Tamica later accepted a position as an adjunct professor at American River College, where she remains today. She has facilitated several courses and certification programs within the school’s Gerontology Department, utilizing her past experiences to teach the next generation.

Concurrently across the last 20 years of her career, Tamica has offered her services as a therapeutic recreation consultant, first serving in this position with Joni Berk Recreation Consultation in 2005 as a sub-contractor. Consulting became a primary goal beginning in 2008 when her son was diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and she received her own diagnoses of lupus and scleroderma. While exploring options for how to move forward with her career within the framework of these life changes, Tamica took on a part-time position as a recreation therapist for the State of California Corrections Department. Working there for nearly 8 years, her duties included conducting assessments of incarcerated patients, leading therapy sessions for groups and individuals, and aiding in the creation of treatment plans.

During her time with the State of California Corrections Department, Tamica continued growing as a recreation therapist consultant, evaluating services for a variety of facilities for both children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. In 2011, she launched her own company, Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc., where she serves as owner and lead consultant. By 2016, Tamica had built up her consultant contracts enough to shift away from her corrections department role. As of 2025, she leads a team of 12 professionals at Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc., where she also creates inclusive and adaptive programs, completes assessments & treatment plans, facilitates workshops, speaks at conferences, and more.

Through her efforts at Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc., Tamica prioritizes serving as an advocate for persons with disabilities throughout the United States by utilizing a holistic approach to therapeutic programs centered on improving overall quality of life. She also prides herself on inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility, making Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc. a company where everyone has an opportunity to grow and collaborate.

Beyond her career, Tamica is a loving wife and mother to three daughters and one son. In her free time, she finds joy in going on family outings and vacations, biking, playing games, attending amusement parks, and “glamping” (camping with amenities), especially in recreational vehicles.

Looking to the future, Tamica has enthusiastically embraced ambitious goals for Moore Recreation Therapy & Consulting Inc. She is dedicated to continuing to evolve her company globally, including plans for continued assessment of their current programs with an eye toward accessibility and inclusion. Alongside that process, Tamica hopes to continue to service city parks and recreation departments with staff training and inclusive and adaptive programming, as well as develop partnerships with theme parks to help create accessible and adaptive rides for persons with disabilities. These goals showcase her commitment to improving inclusivity throughout the world in recreation for all abilities.
