She believes financial planning is most effective when technical expertise is paired with a deep understanding of the human side of money. Through a coordinated, relationship-centered approach, she helps clients simplify complex financial decisions so they can focus on what matters most.
Ms. Cook began her career in the mortgage industry, where she gained firsthand insight into the long-term impact financial decisions can have on individuals and families. Observing recurring financial challenges and patterns among borrowers inspired her to transition into financial planning, where she could help clients take a more proactive and comprehensive approach to managing their financial lives.
Ms. Cook’s perspective was further shaped by her upbringing in an entrepreneurial family and years spent helping clients navigate important life transitions. These experiences strengthened her belief that financial planning is ultimately about people, not just numbers. By combining technical expertise with empathy and education, she helps clients make informed decisions that support both their financial goals and the lives they want to lead.
Before launching Maven Lane Financial Group, Ms. Cook spent nearly a decade building her advisory practice while continuing her education. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University and later completed a Master of Science in personal financial planning from the College for Financial Planning. She also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, reflecting her commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning.
In addition to her work as an advisor, Ms. Cook is an author and educator. In 2024, she published “Your Money Narrative: Understanding Your Story to Build a Stronger Financial Future,” a book that explores how personal experiences and beliefs influence financial behavior and decision-making. Drawing from years of client conversations and professional experience, the book encourages readers to examine the stories they tell themselves about money and build a stronger financial future.
Ms. Cook is also passionate about supporting the next generation of professionals and actively encourages more young women to pursue careers in financial services. She believes the profession benefits from diverse perspectives and is committed to helping others develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed.
