Claudyne Jefferson, Owner and Clinician at The Help Connection, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in substance abuse and unhealed trauma.
Ms. Jefferson felt God dropped her in the field when she came with her husband back to her hometown of Nashville. She began looking for a position as a counselor, found a location quickly and believed she was meant to be there. Once she was taught the field, she fell in love with it and considers it a wonderful place. Before starting on her career path, Ms. Jefferson matriculated at Fisk University earning a Bachelor of Arts and then in 1988 a Master of Science in sociology. Upon completion of her degrees, she became a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor (LADAC) and a licensed professional counselor.
Ms. Jefferson enjoys what she is doing in her current practice. She is proud of the three books she has written. She began her career as a group facilitator at Peace Incorporated and then joined the Tribute Center for Long Term Emerging Community. In 1991, she became an adjunct faculty member with Fisk University, where she remained until 1997. Also during that time, she was an adjunct faculty member with the Nashville State Technical Institute from 1995 to 1997. Since 1989, she has been the owner and a clinician of The Help Connection. Civically, she gives pro bono consultations and is a donor to various charities.
Looking towards the future, Ms. Jefferson wants to continue training employees and offering her consulting services. As a testament to her success, Ms. Jefferson received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Middle Tennessee Association of Alcoholism & Drug Addiction Counselors in 2004, John Molloy Outstanding Service Award from the Alcohol and Drug Council in 1993 and an Outstanding Community Server Award from the Alcohol and Drug Council in 1985.
