Currently excelling as owner and nurse practitioner at Pavilion Medical Home Care and Staffing since 2005, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in providing quality medical care and staffing solutions. In this role, he manages patient care and oversees the operations of the medical home care service. Recently, he and his team formed a full partnership with Kaiser Permanente, providing patient care and designing a congestive heart failure program that has been accepted by a local hospital.
Prior to this position, Dr. Erhunmwunse was active as a nurse practitioner with Mobile City Units and served as a nurse practitioner contractor for the Department of Defense. He began his career as a registered nurse in a critical care unit, gaining invaluable experience handling complex patient cases. He also worked as a pulmonary nurse practitioner at Fairfax Hospital and as a nurse practitioner in a nursing home, further broadening his expertise in various health care settings.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Erhunmwunse pursued an education in geology in Nigeria. He continued his academic efforts at George Mason University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996. He then completed a master’s degree in nursing practice through a collaborative program between George Mason University and George Washington University in 2000. Following these accomplishments, he obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland in 2022. He is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified, registered nurse, and board-certified geriatric nurse practitioner.
Dr. Erhunmwunse is also the founder of an HIV nonprofit organization that has been providing HIV services in Nigeria since 2006. He is also actively involved with the local Sheriff’s Department, for which he has received an Award for Community Contribution. Additionally, he is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Gerontological Society of America. In recognition of his impressive undertakings, he was honored by the State of Tennessee at a conference for leading a delegation of medical professionals to Nigeria for an HIV movement.
Reflecting on his career, Dr. Erhunmwunse describes achieving his doctorate in nursing practice as a standout moment. His dissertation focused on improving health care systems, highlighting his dedication to excellence in the field. Additionally, he takes immense satisfaction in guiding and mentoring employees to become leaders, helping them achieve the highest levels of success in their careers. Over the years, he has mentored graduate students from various universities, including Washington University and Grand Canyon University, who have successfully provided care to patients in the community and received recognition from local institutions.
Dr. Erhunmwunse credits his success to his unwavering commitment to his profession, his modesty, and his fervent desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. He takes great pleasure in his clinical practice, witnessing the tangible results of his efforts and watching his patients make significant strides toward recovery and well-being. In the coming years, he aims to see his work in the nursing field bring about significant improvements. He is particularly interested in engaging with and consulting the business community to support new entrepreneurs who can drive progress in health care delivery and outcomes. Additionally, he hopes to publish his book and become a recognized authority in clinical research.
