Martha E. Hernandez, owner of Extreme Wood Works, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in wood product manufacturing.
With nearly two decades of experience, Ms. Hernandez has built a successful career in wood product manufacturing, specializing in project management. On the commercial side, she focuses on custom display furniture for fragrance and cosmetics in duty-free stores within airports, while on the residential side, she handles kitchen cabinets, closets, vanities, and entertainment centers. She has excelled as the owner of Extreme Wood Works since 2020, where her responsibilities include sourcing specific materials from international suppliers, managing client relationships, and overseeing the entire project lifecycle from quoting to technical drawings in collaboration with drafters. Prior to this role, she served as vice president of Extreme Wood Works from 2007 to 2020, supervisor at Party City from 2005 to 2006, and secretary at J&S A/C & Ref Supply from 2004 to 2005. Additionally, she has dedicated her time as the founder of Amor y Fuerza since 2020, secretary of the Rotary Club of Doral from 2021 to 2022, and a volunteer with Best Buddies International. She laid a solid educational foundation by earning an associate of arts in business administration from Miami Dade College in 2007, followed by a bachelor’s degree in international business from Florida International University in 2015, along with an SBE certification.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Hernandez took over as the majority owner of Extreme Wood Works around three years ago, and the business has thrived since its establishment in 2006. She has been involved in the industry from the beginning, starting at a young age with limited knowledge. Carpentry runs in the family, as her grandfather owned a carpentry shop in Honduras, which inspired their continued involvement. Over time, they successfully found their niche in the industry, and the family has been working together ever since. It remains a tight-knit, family-owned business, with her parents and siblings contributing to the operations while Ms. Hernandez manages all the administrative tasks. She takes great pride in how she first started out with Extreme Wood Works. In addition to her business success, she and her family founded their nonprofit organization, Amor y Fuerza. Coming from a third-world country, they have always been passionate about helping those in need, and after Central America was struck by Hurricanes Eta and Iota in 2020, they transformed their facility into a donation center to collect relief supplies.
Ms. Hernandez attributes her success to her background as a Hispanic woman and a single mother. Despite facing many challenges along the way, she now sees that all the sacrifices were worth it. Her daughter’s unwavering support continues to motivate her, and she is determined to be a role model, showing her daughter that success is attainable and that even greater accomplishments lie ahead. In the coming years, she plans to start a new woodworking company, operating independently from her family’s business, and expanding to handle projects on her own. Additionally, she is exploring opportunities in the coffee industry, particularly in Honduras, where she sees potential for high-quality coffee. She is also considering pursuing a master’s degree and looking into various investment opportunities.
