Leveraging a career spanning over 25 years in the finance industry, Mr. Miller has distinguished himself as one of only 50 certified cost segregation professionals in the U.S. His expertise in accounting, cost segregation, and financial management is unparalleled, setting him apart from his peers. In 2007, Mr. Miller joined Cost Segregation Experts as a project manager in Cleveland, Ohio. His ascent within the company was swift, earning the titles of vice president in 2011 and president in 2015 before assuming his current role as managing partner in 2019.
Mr. Miller’s professional journey began with his role as a vending manager at Service America Corporation from 1984 to 1990. He then transitioned to public service as a tax commissioner agent for the State of Ohio in 1992 before becoming the chief deputy auditor for the City of Lorain between 1993 and 1999. Mr. Miller’s tenure as the director of public service and public safety for the City of Lorain from 2000 to 2006 further solidified his commitment to public service.
In addition to his corporate roles, Mr. Miller has contributed significantly to academia as an adjunct faculty member at his alma mater, Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, and Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio, from 1996 to 2014. He has found great reward in teaching the next generation of professionals.
Mr. Miller’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance in 1990 and a Master of Business Administration in finance in 1991 from Cleveland State University. His certifications include being a licensed certified public accountant by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and a certified government financial manager by the Association of Government Accountants. Mr. Miller’s certification as a cost segregation professional by the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals further underscores his specialized knowledge in this niche field.
Throughout his career, Mr. Miller has been actively involved with several professional organizations, such as the national tax and finance subcommittee of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), where he served as chairperson for two terms. He is also an associate member of the American Institute of Architects and holds memberships with various other industry-related associations.
Mr. Miller’s civic contributions are equally noteworthy. He serves on the board of directors for the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and supports organizations like Catholic Charities USA and The Salvation Army National Headquarters. These efforts reflect his commitment to giving back to the community and causes dear to him.
As an expert in his field, Mr. Miller has shared his expertise through numerous speaking engagements on cost segregation. He has also contributed articles to various industry publications. Mr. Miller’s accolades include receiving the Member of the Year Award from NAIOP Corporate’s Northern Ohio chapter in 2017 and being inducted into the Hall of Fame by Real Estate Journals and REjournals.com in 2022.
