In his leading role, Mr. Kosinski manages IRS controversy matters, negotiating and communicating directly with the agency to resolve complex issues. His advisory work extends to financial products, including securities and commodities for investment firms and funds, as well as participation in real estate brokerage and development projects. Additionally, Mr. Kosinski assists contractors and developers while handling international client activities that address both business and personal tax matters across multiple countries.
Before joining Citrin Cooperman Advisors LLC, Mr. Kosinski dedicated over 30 years to ORBA, now part of Citrin Cooperman Advisors LLC, where he served as a tax director from 1994 to 2025. During his tenure, he established himself as an expert in taxation, IRS controversy and representation. Mr. Kosinski’s clientele included entrepreneurs, small business owners and acclaimed individuals facing intricate tax challenges.
Mr. Kosinski’s ability to advise and collaborate with high-profile clients stands as one of his most notable achievements, reflecting his reputation for navigating complex cases with discretion and skill. He has regularly conducted tax seminars to provide annual updates on IRS issues, procedures and examinations, covering topics such as the tax impact of the OBBBA, business options for entity startups and year-end tax planning strategies. Mr. Kosinski’s focus on strategic tax planning and technical advice has benefited individuals and closely held companies alike, particularly those in the commodities and securities industries.
Recruited to Citrin Cooperman Advisors LLC from Checkers Simon & Rosner LLP in Chicago, Mr. Kosinski worked for the local certified public accounting firm for five years, honing his skills before advancing to Astra ORBA. This formative experience was instrumental in gaining foundational knowledge and expertise in the field.
Mr. Kosinski’s academic foundation is rooted in exceptional achievement. He graduated as valedictorian from high school before earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting, summa cum laude, from DePaul University in Chicago in 1989. During his undergraduate studies, he was actively involved in social and academic organizations, serving as an officer on the boards of the Accounting Club, Alpha Lambda Delta, the Golden Key Honor Society and Beta Alpha Psi. Mr. Kosinski’s passion for writing was recognized through his role as a tutor at the DePaul Writing Center, where he guided undergraduate and graduate students in developing their writing skills. In 1995, Mr. Kosinski completed a Master of Science in taxation at the Driehaus College of Business at DePaul University.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kosinski has been an active member of several professional organizations. Since 1990, he has served as a speaker for the Illinois CPA Society, where he is also a member and current president of its Chicago South chapter, delivering more than 50 webinars over the past five years alone, a shift accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic that enabled him to reach national audiences through remote platforms. Mr. Kosinski is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Kosinski attributes his achievements to collaborative efforts with associates and clients, many of whom are distinguished figures, emphasizing mutual growth through partnership.
