Danica L. Mason, Founder and Principal at Red Team Go, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Architecture, Engineering and Construction.
Ms. Mason has distinguished herself as a leader in collaborative delivery and large-scale infrastructure projects across North America. Since founding Red Team Go in 2010, a leading firm that offers architecture, engineering and construction industry leaders with diversity, inclusion and civil rights management services, she has guided the company from a regional consultancy into a trusted partner on complex projects nationwide. Her expertise centers on supporting contractors and engineering firms to achieve ambitious goals related to underutilized businesses, including small, veteran-owned, minority-owned and women-owned enterprises. Under Ms. Mason’s leadership, Red Team Go develops inclusion plans, procures qualified firms and ensures that small businesses have meaningful roles on major projects. She also serves as an advocate and ombudsperson for disadvantaged firms navigating high-stakes contracts.
Red Team Go’s early growth reflects Ms. Mason’s commitment to excellence. During its first decade in business, the company operated solely through word of mouth and reputation without a website. The firm’s expansion across Washington and California, and eventually throughout North America, was fueled by client referrals and repeat business. This organic growth underscores the trust clients place in Ms. Mason and her team.
Before establishing Red Team Go, Ms. Mason served as a regional marketing manager for H.W. Lochner, a transportation engineering firm, at its Bellevue, Washington, headquarters, from 2007 to 2010. In this capacity, she was responsible for developing proposals and supporting large-scale engineering pursuits for the western region. Ms. Mason’s experience at H.W. Lochner provided foundational exposure to collaborative delivery models and allowed her to work closely with both engineering teams and contractors.
Ms. Mason’s career trajectory was shaped by early exposure to the construction industry through her family’s business. Raised in Los Angeles, California, in a household immersed in construction and engineering, she developed an affinity for the field despite academic challenges with mathematics that precluded an engineering degree. Instead, Ms. Mason earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Seattle University in 2008, a background that proved invaluable when she began writing proposals for engineering firms during her studies.
While still attending Seattle University, Ms. Mason actively sought opportunities at local engineering firms where she was mentored by experienced professionals and involved in significant projects from the outset. This hands-on learning enabled her to understand industry dynamics intimately and identify where she could make the greatest impact. When economic shifts during the 2010 recession prompted many companies to cut overhead positions, several contractors encouraged Ms. Mason to launch her own business so they could engage her services directly for project pursuits.
Ms. Mason continued her professional development with coursework toward a Master of Science in marketing at Southern New Hampshire University. She also earned a certification in marketing management from the University of Washington in 2011. These academic achievements have reinforced Ms. Mason’s ability to lead strategic initiatives within Red Team Go and support clients across diverse markets.
Beyond her company goals, Ms. Mason maintains active involvement with industry organizations, such as BuildIT, and serves as a board member of the California Infrastructure Delivery Coalition. Her contributions are further reflected in civic engagement as the president of the Snohomish Historical Society and as a collaborator with DemoChicks, a group dedicated to empowering women in construction-related fields.
A defining achievement of Ms. Mason’s career has been her role as an inclusion manager on a major infrastructure project in Washington state. When the contractor initially committed to only 6% participation from disadvantaged, diverse and emerging businesses, well below the required 26%, she led a cultural transformation within the contractor’s team. Through education, advocacy and barrier removal strategies, Ms. Mason helped DDE participation surpass 30%. This accomplishment stands as a testament to her ability to foster genuine inclusion and drive systemic change within the contracting community.
Ms. Mason’s accomplishments have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including selection among ENR Northwest’s Top Young Professionals by Engineering News-Record in 2024 and the Built Community Impact Award from BuildIT in 2025. She attributes her success to consistently delivering high-quality work on time and within budget, a standard that has built Red Team Go’s reputation for reliability and results-driven performance. Ms. Mason often advises other disadvantaged businesses that while certifications may open doors, sustained growth depends on exceeding expectations and earning client trust through excellence.
Throughout her career, Ms. Mason has prioritized building strong relationships within the industry. She recognizes that every relationship matters, whether with large corporations or fellow small businesses, and believes mutual support is vital for collective success. Looking ahead, she remains committed to advancing civil rights within the architecture, engineering and construction sector while supporting the growth of small businesses. Ms. Mason’s ongoing mission is to create meaningful opportunities for underrepresented firms by ensuring they have both access and advocacy on major infrastructure projects, not simply meeting participation goals but building lasting capacity so these businesses can thrive over time.
Ms. Mason continues to spend much of each year traveling throughout the United States and Canada to support workforce development initiatives, including apprenticeship programs and equal employment opportunity compliance, on job sites nationwide. Through unwavering dedication to inclusion, collaborative delivery methods and relationship-building across all levels of the industry, she has established herself as an expert whose leadership continues to shape the future of infrastructure delivery throughout North America.
