With nearly four decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Heitz has cultivated a fulfilling career as a farm owner and manager. Since 1984, he has served as the owner of the Heitz Family Farm in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Originally founded in 1838, the farm is well-regarded in the community for producing high-quality crops and livestock. As the owner of the business, Mr. Heitz works alongside his family, including his wife and four children, to oversee the lucrative grain farming enterprise, which currently utilizes just over 3,000 acres of land.
Prior to managing his business, Mr. Heitz accrued a wealth of experience in raising feeder pigs. At the onset of his ownership, he primarily focused on livestock, raising the business’s famous Black Angus beef. He subsequently expanded his endeavors to include row crops, including grain, corn, wheat and soybeans. In all of his endeavors, Mr. Heitz remains committed to continually evolving his farm, maintaining his awareness of new technologies, leadership strategies and management tactics that will allow the business to further thrive.
As part of his dedication to his professional endeavors, and as a means to remain aware of updates in the industry, Mr. Heitz is a member of the Central Ohio Young Farmers Coalition and his local chapter of the Lions Clubs International. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he has been honored with several accolades over the course of his career, including a Young Farmers Award for Ohio. Additionally, he was previously named one of the Top Producers in Nashville.
Mr. Heitz naturally gravitated towards owning his farm, as it served as a means to remain an active part in his family’s legacy. To wit, as he continues expanding and developing the business, he hopes it will serve as a stable source of income and stability for future generations of his family. Looking to the future, he intends to remain competitive in his market and continue passing on his skills and knowledge to his children. Mr. Heitz also looks forward to capitalizing on future opportunities and settling on his upcoming, patent pending product.
