Since 2024, he has owned and operated University Diner in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role, Mr. McCann has leveraged his expertise in small restaurants and dining experiences to create a welcoming environment for patrons while deepening his engagement with residents.
Crediting his daily interactions at the diner for providing valuable insights into community needs, Mr. McCann has become inspired to run for city council. As a grassroots candidate for an at-large seat, he is known for his nonpartisan approach and refusal to accept funding from large corporations or outside interests. Mr. McCann focuses on social media outreach and direct engagement with residents, prioritizing transparency and collaboration.
In addition to managing the diner, Mr. McCann has been serving as an independent consultant with Fader & Co., a real estate firm based in Jacksonville. He has been active in the same role at RB22, a family-owned company that owns and operates multiple successful restaurants in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, since 2024.
Notably, in 2019, Mr. McCann founded Your Angel’s Ink, a venture he considers his most significant achievement, which offers a unique service infusing cremated remains into tattoo ink as a means of healing and remembrance. He led this company until 2024 before transferring ownership to his cousin.
Having spent over a decade in the healthcare sector, Mr. McCann excelled from 2023 to 2024 as a regional sales manager for OrthAlign in Jacksonville, overseeing operations across Alabama and Florida. He held the same position at Corza Medical between 2021 and 2023. Among several other leading roles, Mr. McCann worked as a trauma consultant for DePuy Synthes and as a trauma sales representative at Stryker. His foundational roles in the field included pediatric emergency medical technician at Wolfson Children’s Hospital under Baptist Health in Jacksonville and patient care technician at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, dating back to 2011. Mr. McCann’s career began in 2010 as a managed products specialist with Merrill Lynch in Jacksonville.
Mr. McCann’s educational background includes an Associate of Arts in biomedical sciences from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2013 and a bachelor’s degree in biological health sciences from the University of South Florida in Tampa in 2016. These academic achievements provided foundational knowledge vital for his early work in healthcare and later informed his innovative approach as a business owner and consultant. Additionally, Mr. McCann holds certifications as an emergency medical technician and certified nursing assistant, credentials that have enhanced his ability to understand patient care dynamics and contribute meaningfully within clinical settings.
Active outside of work, Mr. McCann maintains affiliations with organizations such as the Rotary Club of Mandarin, JAX Chamber and the San Marco Preservation Society. He has also been chairing Bold Leadership, PC, a Jacksonville-based movement and professional services organization, since 2024. Moreover, Mr. McCann frequently volunteers at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, supports philanthropic events through University Diner and Jacksonville University, contributes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and participates in various local community initiatives. Over the years, he has built strong networks that support both his business endeavors and civic engagement.
Looking ahead, Mr. McCann is dedicated to advancing nonpartisan city council elections for Jacksonville, a goal shaped by his belief that reducing external influence will better serve the community’s interests. His leadership has become characterized by a nonpolitical mindset, and he looks forward to serving his constituents in the near future. Mr. McCann attributes his success thus far not only to acting on what he knows is right but also to choosing unconventional paths when necessary.
